Hey, everyone!

This article will show you how to connect your LibreView account to Heads Up.

If at any point you have questions, please reach out to our support team by email or by using the little blue circle with the white smiling message icon in the lower right corner of the app.

This article was updated on December 7, 2023. If you see any discrepancies or anything that needs to be updated or edited, or if you just want to leave us some feedback, let us know.

Note: At this time, you can only complete the LibreView connection on the Heads Up web application. The connection process is not available on the mobile app; however, the data will still display on the mobile app once connected.

The sign-in process must be completed in one web browser within the same session. Closing the browser or accessing the authentication code in a different browser will cause the sign-in to fail.

Necessary: The LibreView two-factor authentication must be set to email. Not SMS.

First Things First

Step 1:

  • Download the FreeStyle Libre 2 download the FreeStyle Libre 2 app, iOS/Android.

  • Or for older devices download the the FreeStyle LibreLink app, iOS/Android.

Step 2: Create an account.

Step 3: Apply your CGM. Best practices below:

  • Avoid placing the sensor directly over the muscle. The best location to apply your sensor is in the fatty part of the back of your upper arm, in the river between the tricep and deltoid. Watch the application video below to see exactly where we like to apply the sensor.

  • The spring load in the applicator is plenty of pressure to insert the filament and activate the adhesive - there's no need to apply extra pressure once the sensor is applied.

  • Try to relax your arm and nervous system when applying the sensor - Inhale deeply, press down on the applicator during your exhale.

Step 4: Apply your Performance Cover. How to apply your Performance Cover:

  1. Peel off the white paper on the back of the Performance Cover that is protecting the adhesive. Do not touch the adhesive side when applying.

  2. Center the cover over your sensor (adhesive side down on skin) and stick it down on your skin, starting at the center and working outward (see video below for visual tutorial).

  3. Rub briskly from the center to the edges to activate the adhesive. Do not rub from the edge toward the center, or you may cause the edges to peel away from the skin.

Step 5: The LibreView platform now requires two-factor authentication to access your account.

You will first need to go into your LibreView account and configure a two-factor authentication method, using email before you will be able to connect to your device on Heads Up.

Heads Up can only use your primary 2FA method.

Once you have successfully configured your LibreView account for 2FA, proceed to the How-to section for further guidance on connecting to your device to Heads Up.

The How-to

Head over to your Dashboard and click Connect Data > Devices & Apps:

Click on LibreView(Beta):

Sign in with the credentials you use to log into your Libre account and click Save:

Check your email, the one you use for your Libre account, enter the Authentication Code in the field titled Authentication Code, and click Save:

Once the connection is complete, you will have the option to add the Glucose tile to the Dashboard. Click Ok:

Once this step is complete, your latest Libre data will start flowing in and be reviewable within all the app's features.

Should Not Happen Error Message

The shouldNotHappen error message indicates that you need to log into your LibreView account and review and complete the Terms of Use:

After accepting the terms, return to the How-to section of this article for instructions on reconnecting.
