How to Set Up a New Oura Ring on the Oura App

If you're setting up a new ring for the first time:

  1. Download the Oura App from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play (for Android)

  2. Unbox the ring and charger

  3. Plug the charger into a USB power source, such as a laptop or supporting power brick

The Oura App is supported on iOS devices running Apple iOS 15 and higher, or Android devices running Android 8.0 and higher with Google Play services. Your device must support Bluetooth 4.0.

  1. Put your ring on the charger. If you're using a Gen3 charger, the LED will blink blue to indicate that your ring is ready to be paired

  2. Make sure that your device's Bluetooth is enabled

  3. Follow the in-app instructions to set up your Oura account

You'll have to spend at least one night sleeping with your Oura Ring on to receive Sleep and Readiness Scores the following morning. However, Activity data and the Explore content will all be available immediately.

Oura will establish baseline readings over the next few weeks of your ring use, which will inform the app's personalized guidance and insight messages. Features such as Cycle Insights and Restorative Time also require ~30-60 days of consecutive data for optimal performance and accurate readings.

Connect Your Oura Account in the System

First things first head over to the Heads Up web app.

In the top right of the app, click the Connect Data drop-down menu and click Devices & Apps:

Note: On smaller screens, the Connect Data button is removed.

To connect devices,, click Connect Devices:

On the Add Data Sources popup, make your selection and follow the prompts given on the signup screen.

Note: The login credentials you will use are the login credentials associated with the device/app you are connecting to. In this case, please use valid Oura credentials.

The check mark on the Add Data Sources popup in the lower right corner of the device tile indicates a successful connection:

Once the connection is complete, you will be given the option to add the data sources tiles to the dashboard.

If the check is not clickable and faded, then the tile is already on the dashboard. Click Ok:

Tiles on the Dashboard

After clicking Ok, the tiles will appear in the order listed in the last tile positions.

You can relocate tiles by clicking and dragging them to their desired position.

Let's take a look at the tiles on the dashboard. Using the image below, let's point some things out:

  1. Change tiles source.

  2. Click the center of a tile to flip it over to see the last five recordings.

  3. Last five recordings.

  4. Average for the last five readings.
